The UCLA KI team enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting new colleagues at the 2015 iConference in Newport Beach, CA this week. Our team was well represented at the conference: Christine L. Borgman is a keynote speaker at the conference on March 27, 2015. Peter Darch presented “Beyond Big or Little Science: Understanding Data Lifecycles in Astronomy and the Deep Subseafloor Biosphere” on behalf of himself and fellow team member Ashley Sands.

Additionally, Sands and our own doctoral student Irene Pasquetto contributed to the iConference’s Social Media Expo challenge. The two doctoral students, alongside three others in the UCLA student cohort, presented findings from their ongoing activist data and media project: Police Officer-Involved Homicide Database Project.
